My Learning Journey in Room 2

Reading: This weeks availl was on 'Race to Witch mountain'. It was a great  movie based on the journey of Jack Bruno and the alien kids, Seth and Sarah. The kids look normal, but they have super powers and can levitate things, move levers with their mind and move their bodies through solid objects. Our task was to write about three conflicts in  the text. Maths: This week has been very exciting! Matific practice had started and by Friday, we topped the world board at 1st place. The comp was on, and room 2 was full of silent students, tippety tapping at their keyboards. We spent most of our day on Matific, but we didn't forget to blog or finish our reading. As of now, everyone is 20 stars behind us and as Mrs. C would say, we are blitzing it. Writing: On Tuesday we peer-marked our reports on NZ prime ministers. Maths:This week we started adding and subtracting fractions. I think that i would like a little more work on this since I am not the greatest. Reading: We finished Hugo on monday and started an essay on the relationships in Hugo. I was unable to complete my essay as I was away on Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope to be able to finsish this weekend Writing: This week we were informed of the Rehu Tai festival. With only two weeks to practice ( I know, short notice much?) Some of us felt a a little stressed. I decided to write about the orcas at seaworld and how I thought they should be living, happy in the wild.

Reading: This week we started a new movie called Tin-Tin. Our task was to describe three settings from the movie. a fe popular choices were Marlinspike hall, The cruise ship, and Bagghar. Tintin was helped by captain Haddock, who was the descendant of Sir Frances and was the only one who could break the curse and find the treasure. We had to use a lot of descriptive writing in this task and it was really fun. Our paragraphs had to be nine to ten sentences so I stretched out everything and my paragraphs were 100+ words. Writing: During this period of five days we had to write a two-minute long poem about change. I found it hard but I decided to write about the plight of captive orcas. I watched a lot of informative videos and I used this prior knowledge to speed write and then I polished it off. I have never been good at poems but this one seemed very easy to write. Out of 24, I got 22. I am pretty happy with this score as it is equivalent to 11 over 12. Maths: The math-ex...

Reading: This week's Availl was about the relationships in Hugo, a steampunk movie based on the story of a buy that lives in a train station. We only focused on relationships so that we would be able to add more detail and learn about all the complex relationships in this movie. Writing: This week we finished our 'bug stories', and gave them to the children at Papakura West Kindergarten. There were smiles all around and we kept them waiting for the next page. My kid was named Ella and she was shy at first, but eventually, she came out of her shell and started chattering in an unintelligible way. I had put some interactive bits in my story including a colour in the rainbow, and a spot the wasp. They were really enjoying my story and I loved reading to them. Their attention span was short but it was reasonably easy because I got them to talk about the pictures.
