Post 3 - Term 2, Week 8

Writing: Our quick writes were based on proverbs and one of my proverbs was
 'Birds of a feather stick together. Another one of our quick writes was about
using our five senses to describe an experience in our cubby. I wrote about

destroying a dangerous monster that would take over the world if I didn't stop it. I enjoyed writing this and it helped my descriptive writing.

Reading: I worked on connections and Passage picker, where i had to identify an emotion in a paragraph and write why i chose that particular passage. With connections we learnt about text to self, text to text and text to world. I found it a little difficult as I have never read a book similar to 'Slide the Corner'

Math: On Monday we took a Pre-test on statistics. I didn't do very well but I got most of the questions correct. WE learnt how to make  a pie graph and how to make a time series graph. I enjoyed most of the work and Emily T and I started our slides for the statistical investigation.

Topic: Joyce and I created ```our final tic-tac-toe about the effects of Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula on humans. Their bite can cause nausea, slight paralysis around the bite area and muscle cramps. We are now polishing our presentation and I cannot say I enjoyed working in a group

Reading: This term we made our novel studies and we looked at Character Analysis which included Physical appearance, Personality traits, Growth, and relationships. After this, we used the information we had gathered to create an essay. The next task was main events and a summary, then mapping where we looked at the setting of the story. Connections were very important and there were three types of them; text to self, which means how we can connect to the book, text to text, which means have we read any books similar to the book and text to the world, which is about how the book has similarities to everyday life. Learning Week 6 Term 2

Learning Week 6 Term 2 Reading:  I used visualisation and clues from the text to create a map based on the setting in 'Slide the Corner'. It was difficult because I couldn't get a feel of the place so I had to skim and scan for tid-bits of information that painted a very blurry picture. Writing: In writing, we practised quick writes, where we try to fit in one skill in a short story.We have used prepositions, practised descriptive writing using adjectives, adverbs, and figurative languages Maths: I learnt about the Mean, Median, Mode and Range and how to identify them using a poem.
